2014 Merrylands RSL Exhibition

MerrylandsA

While not one of Australia’s largest exhibitions, the Merrylands RSL is one of the more enjoyable.
Wide spaces, lack of ferals in plague proportions, most of ‘those’ modelers mostly unaware, an awesome smorgasboard – it all goes together to make for a very relaxing time indeed.
S*M*U*T members were both exhibiting and visiting during the exhibition.
The following shots were taken on the Sunday morning.

Doug’s delicious Japanese layout gives a great look into how chaotic life must be there.

I believe the exhibition winner, this small layout built by the Small’s is an insanely detailed layout that you can watch for ages and still see knew things. We have such talented people in our little SMUT community.

Doug’s trams ran faultlessly all weekend, not counting the occasional T-Boning of another tram at the intersection above.

Japanese layouts are always guaranteed to impress with the amount of work having gone into them.

An ol fave is this one based loosely on Punchbowl car sheds I am told.
Great selection of EMUs, mostly from the days when the railfan hobby was more enjoyable.

Did I mention the smorgasboard olives?

All in all a great day, thanks be to everyone involved in organising and running the exhibition, thanks also to SMUTters Shane, Doug, Ben, Geoff and Geoff for all the good laughs.
Will definitely be back next year.
