2014 Forestville Exhibition Weekend

FORESTVILLE 2014

March  is generally considered as marking the start of the exhibition year for those of us here in NSW.

That exhibition is the usually enjoyable Forestville one put on by the ‘North Shore Railway Modellers Association’ and your guaranteed of a good attendance by loyal S*M*U*T Group fans.
Despite pending legal damnation, 2014 was to be no different. I think I counted around ten on the Saturday morning, with others attending at different times during the weekend.

Sadly the second hand section was not chock full with the huge amount of gems it contained last year, however the trade stands had a good collection of things for sale, thus giving the age old ‘which one should I get’ problem.
Eventually, legal costs have curtailed my spending, which consisted solely of an entry ticket and a Pc2 type station off Joe from Casula Hobbies.
Alas, still no announcement of a ready to run 70 class by any manufacturer – the hobby definitely being all the poorer for overlooking this extremely important locomotive prototype for HO scale.

But no exhibition is complete without the usual S*M*U*T Group after party at our traditional, but soon to be lost, group home.
Following a quick side trip to ‘Model Railroad Craftsman’ to visit SMUTter Ben and spread the joy, followed by some of the best calamari John has had from a microwave, it was off for supplies and one of the biggest events on the calendar.

We apologize in advance if the following views of railfans getting along, enjoying each others company and having fun, offend anyone. Nobody is more aware of how alien this seems for many.

Food and Tanduay – a feast fit for kings.
Even the self appointed ones of the hobby.

Mr Cox didn’t come to the event, but we thought the shot of him stroking this kettle was worth including.

Hello MrX – is that a smile?

Russell from AlcoWorld (and SMUT Group member) smiles and one of John’s sordid jokes as MrX looks on.

A rather concerning service offered by Model Railroad Craftsman.

Really need to stay away from the meats section.
