?: S*M*U*T traditional headquarters moves away from Port Botany to a new home at Mascot Airport. No immense difference for the train fans, but causing much excitment for our aviation interested members.
Final gathering in the old HQ are held.

February 2015
9-2-2015:  Accusations of mischief by Facebook group ‘Trains Downunder’ members (inc Steve Smith) of promoting off topic photos on their group.
Enquiries as to why my group, as opposed to the other groups they belong to (Lachlan Valley Railway and Rail Transport Museum), has been blamed.
Assumed to be either jealousy or boredom.
5-2-2015: Start voluntary project to list status of all Alco locomotives in Australia and relaunch Philippine diesel locomotive database project.

January 2015
5-1-2015: Fund raiser for the Buderim – Palmwoods Heritage Railway group announced. Members of SMUT group asked to help.

December 2014|
8-12-2014: Accusations that the SMUT Group was set up to destroy the Gundagai Heritage Railway by the former group PR Manager. Despite our aims to raise money to help such projects.
A group of three members visit to offer their support to the project.
6-12-2014: History is made as the SMUT Group takes the first 44 class to Naradhan on the exact anniversary of 4464 entering preservation.

November 2014
Discussions between Greg and Brad lead to an idea that would see SMUT railway tours help regional railway preservation efforts around Australia.
The upcoming Naradhan tour would be a trial for this plan.

October 2014
Putting the final touches together for the Naradhan tour, including the latest issue of the Lubricated Flange Ezine, hard copies of which go free to each person booking a single or group booking. A small amount will also be available at AlcoWorld in Ingleburn.

Special S*M*U*T night event with the unveiling of the new ‘Single Decks From Newcastle’ book and fund raiser for a dear SMUT member. All the photos HERE.

S*M*U*T invades the Merrylands RSL annual model railway exhibition and the suburb was never the same again.

SMUT Group website gets another few days attention.Trackwork_Nate
Little modelling still being achieved by many as a fund is commenced to raise money for lawyer, however that did not stop Nathan doing some major trackwork to his Hopetoun layout and Brad getting his Browns carriage to the undercoating stage after 6 months.

No monumental SMUT activites planned this month, though hopefully Easter will some some foamer type activities around the state.

March 2014

Most of t1959474_10151897925135776_1254649479_nhe month spent collecting evidence for a legal case against us.
Little modelling done, but finally a use for those two large A4 binders that have been gathering dust in the SMUT rooms.

New SMUT Group T-shirts ordered from AlcoWorld and plans for a SMUT Group information gathering trip to Burcher, Rankin Springs and Naradhan start to be discussed.

 

10-2-14

After an extended period of severe disinterest due to  fellow railfans, Spadge turned his attention towards getting the non-air hoppers as far advanced as possible and making the long awaited start on Brown’s private carriage.
Initial thoughts of using an old four wheel underframe were later scrapped and a whole carriage built from scratch commenced.
